Below-grade Waterproofing
Carlisle Sheet Membrane Waterproofing System: consists of a 56 mm thick rubberized asphalt membrane which is laminated to high density  4 mm polyethylene film on the face and siliconized release sheet on the adhesive side.   The sheet membrane is available in 36" width.  The system provides a non-sag mastic for sealing terminations of the sheet membrane.  The factory controlled thickness assures uniform thickness on the job while the inherent waterproofing properties of the rubberized asphalt and the polyethylene film provide an excellent water barrier.
Packaging: CCW-701-36 = 36 inches wide X 67 ft. roll (200 sq. ft.) 25 rolls per pallet (5000 sq. ft.) - Weight = 82 lb/rl (approx.)

Typical Use:  The system is suitable for a wide variety of applications such as waterproofing below-grade foundation walls, earth shelters and tunnels.  It is also suited for waterproofing between the structural slab and wearing course on parking decks, plaza decks, mud slabs, terraces, balconies, equipment rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and laboratories.

Limitations:
  • Not recommended in areas where membrane will be subject to continuous exposure to sunlight.
  • Optimal results are obtained when applied at temperatures between 25 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Do not apply membrane to a damp, frosty or contaminated surface.

Application on Horizontal Surfaces:  Apply CCW-701 Sheet from low to high point so that laps will shed water.  Overlap edge seams 2 1/2 inches, end seams 4 inches and staggered.  Snap a chalk line for a starting point.  Pull 2+ feet of release paper and place adhesive side of membrane along chalk line.  As the roll is dispensed, simultaneously roll the release paper and maintain alignment along the chalk line.  Immediately after installation, roll sheet with metal roller wrapped with a resilient material.  Roller should be 18 to 24 inches wide and weigh at least 100 lbs.

Application on Vertical Surfaces:  Apply CCW-701 Sheet Membrane in lengths of 8 feet or less.  Overlap edge seams 2 1/2 inches.  On walls above 8 feet, apply in 8 foot sections, starting at the lowest point with the higher section overlapping the lower section 4 inches.  Use a suitable roller to press membrane firmly against wall.

Note:  Failure to use adequate pressure at terminating edges will result in a poor seal and potential leak.  The use of mastic is not a substitute for a good seal.

Protection:  CCW-701 Sheet Membrane must be protected from damage by future operations and other trades.   The applicator shall install suitable protection course material to protect the membrane.  The protection course may be CCW SURE-DRAIN (H or V) or CCW PROTECTION BOARD (H or V).

Install protection course on vertical walls immediately after installation of the CCW-701 Sheet Membrane and backfill as soon as possible.

Storage:  Protect materials from excessive heat and cold.  Store materials away from flames or sparks.  Outside storage:  Protect from rain, direct sunlight or harmful environmental conditions.
